Frances Jurek
Born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, Frances Jurek received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, K-12, from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2004. While at UAF Frances studied trumpet with John Harbaugh and Rachel Epley. In 2006 she graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Masters Degree in Music, where she studied trumpet with Dr. Karl Sievers. Frances has performed and placed at the National Trumpet Competition with the UAF and OU trumpet ensembles. She has also performed around the United States at the University of North Texas Jazz Festival, Wichita Jazz Festival, Notre Dame Jazz Festival, and the Festival of the States in Washington, D.C. In addition, Frances performed with the Borealis Brass in Rome, Italy, as part of the Fondazione Adkins Chiti: Donne in Musica.
In Tulsa, Oklahoma, Frances was active as a private instructor, master class clinician, and a performer. Her students consistently earned high marks in their respective bands, All District, All State, and Solo and Ensemble.
Frances now teaches private lessons and master classes and performs in a variety of venues in the Houston, Texas area.
