But since it fits snugly back together when you're not using it, that hasn't been a problem. Battery power has been more than adequate; I seldom change batteries. I will say, though, it really only shines enough light to illuminate one page in really dark situations. If you're reading from 2 pages, a light for each side is necessary. It is light, sturdy and puts out great light that will make reading your charts easy and not look like a "spot light" from the audience's perspective. Battery life has been good so far but I would recommend the AC adapter whenever your 'workplace' has power close to it (drummers, keyboard players, etc). Since I hate wires around myself, I'll stick with the batteries for right now :) Cool product - definitely recommend it. I purchased this light and absolutely love it.
